OK here is why I felt this was a scam right off the bat. The email address was a Gmail account. That has been my first tip off. Most legitimate companies have there own domain. Hey it's cheap to buy a domain from Godaddy.com so that is my first clue. If that was not enough blatantly misspelled words in the ad that show up under spell check are another clue to me. Then I put the company name in google, in this case momentum advertising Sacramento and came up with several hits, And the fourth one was Ripoffreport.com. And here is the link to what they said:
http://www.ripoffreport.com/Employers/Logistics-Advertisin/logistics-advertising-moment-3zca2.htm
So my nose appears to be right on sniffing out scams. Please do a little research before you give the bastards your info. If I hadn't done research I am getting so desperate I would have sent them my resume which has a Norse Butt Load of personal information that could be used to scam other information out of previous employers. That idea makes me wake up with a cold shivers in the middle of the night,

Your link and post doesn't say anything to prove that Momentum inc. is a scam. Zero proof, except one person who didn't think they were in the right location. And your proof of them not having an email that suited your standards. I do not work for these people at all, I have an interview with them tomorrow and I wanted to see what others said about it being a scam or not.
Looks like it was a failed search attempt because its just 2 people who have no proof of anything but what they believe. You didn't even schedule an interview or even talk to the people. The big thing for me is when people don't pay hourly usually = scam. I personally asked the person who called me and she said they pay both hourly and commission. If its hourly then its legit to me... I will update you on the hourly thing.
Ill post back here tomorrow to let you know how it went.
This guy is a jerk, how you gonna bust someone out and not even back your own words up. I'm guessing he was wrong.
looks like they do offer hourly just like was said when i called in. seems pretty legit to me
They wait till you are in the middle of training to tell you that your pay is between 400 and 496 a week before taxes. Also, if you do get paid an hourly wage, because your commissions for the week add up to less, they reserve the right to take that money back from your future commisions. They even have there own term for that. They call it a "rake back". Also There was a quick mention during my 1st of 3 interviews about marketing fees and other fees that would be taken out of my check, but no exact numbers given,... hmmm. Definitely a shady BS vibe from most employees. Lots of phoney praise and smiles from little things that don't merit praise. The biggest red flag though was the way they kept stating that they only hire the best and kept congratulating me on every little milestone, but the other people in my training class seemed borderline retarded. I suspect that they are interested in hiring for reasons other than obtaining sales. Scarey to think that these people have my social security number, etc.

the previous guy just sounds like an angry person. sounds like he was mad because people were nice to him.
I was contacted by the receptionist in the Rancho Cordova office for an interview. She emailed me the address and some other info. I went to the interview and the receptionist was really nice but, a couple girls came out of their offices and didn't seem so nice. oh well. Anyways, i met with Reed, the Manager, and he was very blunt about their accomplishments of the company and how at&t was coming out with fiber optic technology and so on. I don't think I have ever had someone stare at me without blinking. It felt like a stare off and smile contest.
I told them that I am a mother of a young daughter and that I need an hourly pay and couldn't afford to support my baby off of commission. I asked if it was, and I got some run around story of how great the company was and how quickly I could move up. I had a gut feeling right then, that something was not right. For me, in my opinion, that was my sign to not go back to the second interview. I did find a few reviews after my first interview and they were not very good. One was by a guy who actually worked for them for awhile, and said he had to do door to door in the rain and crazy weather conditions while being dressed business professional. Really? That has to be uncomfortable, especially if you're a woman and may have to wear heels.
Anyways, I think we can all believe what we want about this company and my feeling isn't that good. I'd rather twirl a sign and dance for a little cash, than to be led on or not sure if I was going to make any sales and get a paycheck to feed my daughter. At least twirling a sign on the side of the road pays that day...Just saying. Never tried it but a friend did, and he made out with a good amount for a few hours. Momentum to me is shady, misleading, narcissistic company looking to pay employees comission, while Momentum makes the big bucks by being hired by other companies to put their names out there. To me it's like toys and clothes being made overseas since their pay rate is cheaper there, than making it in America!!!
I have an interview Monday and by doing my research, now I can save hours of fake smiles and false promises. Almost did the same the other day at K Designers, got that gut thing and I don't mean the shits feeling about their business practices, basically told them what I thought then kicked rocks! Capitalism=greed=scammers - Deuces
Not sure about you guys, but I had an interview the other day with the Company. The position was representing DirecTV, not AT&T, and I made sure to ask about an hourly wage. The manager said their is an hourly wage plus the opportunity for commission. Everyone seemed to be very friendly. I would definitely recommend the Company. I think as a job seeker you should always take look at the job your self, and not just rely on other jaded job searchers opinions.(my case in point)
plus i asked about whether it was door to door too, and the manager said no the position is inside retail stores. he said the company works in best buy and sams. that doesn't seem shady to me.
Momentum Advertising, Inc sent me an email this morning after I replied to their current ad on craigslist a few days ago. The email generic and mentioned their time being limited for interviews.
Within hours I received a phone call from one of their reps Maria Alejandre, HR Assistant. Right away Maria told me my resume wouldn't open for her and she asked me to tell her about my previous employers, but not before mentioning Momentum is contracted with Fry's and some other companies to sell Direct TV subscriptions or something of that jazz.
When I was done reading off my resume (I should've hung up) she said perfect we want to offer you a management position you sound like the right fit. This set off alarm bells in my head because I have no management experience! She also neglected to give me the pay rate, hours, or anything of substance before ending the call.
I looked at the ad I replied to and it's NOT for a management position it's for a Retail Representative whatever that is.
A quick Google search led me here and to other sites that are onto Momentum Advertising, Inc's scam. Be very careful with the information you give to these people. I will NOT be going to that job interview because I can smell commission pay from a mile away. No thank you.
Also the email they sent me is from a gmail account. Yet another red flag.
Wow Andrea! I'm an employee of the company, and, no disrespect, but you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. The position is a w-2 position meaning there's an hourly wage plus commission. NOBODY is hired into management, it's an entry level position, as is stated it most of their ads. What Maria says when she contacts you is that there is opportunities to move into management. She doesn't offer the position over the phone, she just's sets up interviews to speak with the hiring manager. Plus, Momentum has an "A" rating on the bbb. Good luck looking for another job.
OK i read all of these comments and honestly i am so shocked at the laziness of most people. half of you wont even call in to see if it is real the other half only call and never interview and the rest might have gone to one interview but "smelled commission" and ran away. people you are killing me. none of you know anything about the company obviously and now you have nothing better to do than cry about why they didnt hire you.I applied here and have gone through the second round interview...they actually take you out to the retailers they work in and show you what they do. they are hourly PLUS commission and they have full time hours. it seemed pretty great to me but most of you probably wouldnt be a good fit because they require you to work.

It is obvious to me that the company will hire anyone who is breathing. If that is not enough warning, hey go work for them and find out. When I got the call for the interview I could tell right away I was being sold on working there. Good jobs required you to convince them why they should hire you, not the other way around.

I wish I clicked on one of those links for "check us out" , I thought I was applying directly to work for DIRECTV! and since I know who DIRECTV is, I didn't bother to click on those links. Clever job posting, gotta give it to them, they are advertising agency after all!
Will have to watch out for such Job postings more carefully moving forward! Ah, career builder.com , you should have better job posting policies regarding full discloser in a form of a text who the hiring company is and disallow just using the links only. Protecting us better as your consumers!
BBB for Momentum Advertising explains that they work with DIRECTV as a contractor.
Momentum is a scam, I called and went in for an interview.
It was cheesy as above, lots of praise even though I was a bafoon. Seeing as it was my second job interview, even I could see through it. It wasn't an interview, it was a sales pitch. When I refused the second interview the hiring manager got cross with me over and than tried convincing me I was missing out on the opportunity of a lifetime?? haha I made more money petitioning for a corrupt direct democratic marketing company than I ever would have out of Momentum advertising.
Also, How about that commission sheet that has the employee benchmarks + avg commission made.
I can't recollect with full tangibility but I do remember it was 6 months and over six figures. They have a hole in the wall office that looks like Ikea came in and quickly set up a basic furniture display with talking mannequins reading off a tape ticker.
Working in a retail store, door knocking. It all sucks either way and your working for some greasy turd.
Its not capitalism that is bad, it is the people that use the system for bad. Only people who have never had a real job say that its terrible.
so in conclusion, fuck you momentum- your momentum can't be taken seriously in the 916, quit taking advantage of the poor and desperate so you fat fucks can 'rake' your profits.
